FOUNDER’S NOTES

Talanta Development Inc. was started in

Margaret Waruri, President and Founder

July 2008, is one of the fastest growing and the beloved of all youth ministries by African immigrants in Diaspora according to The Charity Organization Society September periodical and Contributions Magazine January edition. (Evidenced by over 500 web visits daily). Also featured in the East African Standard more than 10 times in 5yrs as the vehicle bringing positive influence in young Africans in America.

There is a place in Talanta Development Inc. for everyone including but not limited to community leaders, pastors, young, old and the general community to contribute and actively engage in the well being of our community and generations to come. Identifying, nurturing and developing talents in our people is a community responsibility whose success can only be achieved in unity. By combining the cultures of the two countries, we all stand at an advantage to bring out the very rich potentials that define us as Africans. As we promote talents among us, we also are remotely promoting Africa as ambassadors in Diaspora being the first point of contact with our host communities; this is a diplomatic expression. When we appreciate these potentials it is a call placing them to a place of responsibility, working harder, aiming higher, do better as role models. Anyone who has ever been on Talanta platform and taken the challenge that came with the opportunity is now soaring in their areas of passion to the glory of God. Serving our generation supersedes the glitz and glamor the mandate of the Vision.

Talanta Awards has a call to bring restoration/realization of lost dreams, healing to wounded souls whose form of worship and expression have been met with condemnation and judgment instead of love and guidance. TALANTA is a spot light that illuminates into the depths of unrealized and untapped potentials providing enviroments for them to thrive to heights un-imagined. This is proof that enjoyment and fun while serving God is not only a possibility but a lifestyle, given a chance. Going to church on Sunday morning is no longer a chore to our youth but a joy.

We sponsor tuition to students in Africa on merit.  This is done by providing the opportunity to the young talanta participants to give back to deserving financially challenged students in Kenya during the annual conference. We also have students sponsored through Talanta in community colleges in the United States of America.

Since its inception in 2008, over 600 artists/groups have been nominated and over 100 Talanta Awards statuettes have been presented to diverse up-coming talented individuals in continental United States of America, Europe and Africa.

The Talantas undoubtedly constitute a tremendous and unique method of promotion for African Artists. As an aim to stay in touch with the fast growing audience, Talanta launched ‘Talanta Radio -online’ which has thousands of fans listening in every Thursday night @10pm Est, 9pm Central and 7pm pacific. The radio show has a global audience growing in thousands daily. To listen by phone (714) 583-6908 or blogtalkradio.com/talanta. Thanks to the Exc. There are so many people who played and continue to play a part in making this a reality. I have been blessed with so many wonderful people who have made such an impact on my life that trying to name them all is a bit intimidating; I am afraid that if I tried to name them all, I’d leave someone out. So instead, just let me thank God for those special people (you know who you are) who have in many ways enriched my life.

However, in an elite category that demands mentions are the following parsons: I am distinctly honored to acknowledge and appreciate exceptional Servants of God who have mentored and supported me personally and in service over the years, namely my Maternal uncle Rev. Hesbon Mwangi, Bishop Douglas Muchiri, Apostle David Karanja (Pastor Christ Harvesters Ministries and Director Talanta Development Inc), Rev Wambui Njoroge and husband Dr. Njoroge, my younger sister Ev. Eva Mwangi, Rev. Lillies and Bishop Henry Njenga, Dr. Stan Wangenye-(Eagles gathering UK), Apostle Lucy Muthami, Dr. Anne Mungai, Irene Magunga, Moses Ogollah Malalah (Legal Consultant Talanta Development),Betty Maina (Programs co-ordinator) among many other servants, friends and family who continually support and stand by me and this cause in and out of season.

The Talanta Awards secretariat does not claim to know it all or have it all together but our commitment and unalloyed penchant for excellence, professionalism and patriotism can only be made more meaningful with your support. We are serving God and loving it and by your support Purposes are realized right here in TALANTA!
